Funeral Services During Covid-19
In response to the Covid-19 outbreak there have been a number of changes to the death registration and funeral procedures in the UK. We have outlined the updates below, along with the current restrictions imposed on funeral services.
Our offices will be staffed as usual and we will remain contactable 24 hours a day. Should you need to get in touch, we ask that you do so initially by phone or email. Where possible we will aim to perform consultations by telephone or Skype. Should face to face contact be required, then this will be arranged by appointment at one of our offices.
We ask that attendance to our offices is not made without an appointment.

Chapel of Rest
You are still welcome to visit our chapel of rest. We would ask that limited numbers of just two people attend at one time and only in the company of those from the same household.
Those who are self isolating / in a vulnerable group are not to attend the chapel.
An appointment must be made

The procedure for registering a death has been updated:
Registrations in Essex (except Southend) are continuing to take place in person, however all appointments will be held at either their Chelmsford, Colchester or Harlow offices as all other offices are closed.
Appointments can be made by phoning: Essex County Death Registration: 0845 603 7632
All Death Registrations in Southend will now take place over the phone.
Southend: 01702 215009
Instead of the family having to collect the medical certificate of death, Hospital and Community Doctors will now send this electronically to the Registrars offices.
Payments for the certificates will be taken by phone and the Death certificate will be posted to the family. They will not be sent electronically. (Death Certificate £11.00 each.)
The Registrar’s Certificate of Burial or Cremation (The Green Form) will be issued electronically to the Funeral Director and Crematorium/Cemetery. This will allow the funeral director to proceed with the funeral arrangements.
Once you have had your telephone appointment with the Registrar, please contact us to make an appointment to discuss the funeral arrangements.
