Our funeral directors in Rayleigh is situated equal distance between Basildon Crematorium and Southend Crematorium.  We are often asked about the differences between each site so have complied a table that reflects what each crematorium has to offer.

Basildon Crematorium, also known as Pitsea Crematorium and Bowers Gifford is privately owned and run by The Westerleigh Group.  Southend Crematorium is operated by Southend-on-Sea Council.

As an independent funeral directors we are able to offer services at any Crematorium and frequently travel to City of London, Corbets Tey, Chelmsford and further afield.

The staff at A.R.Adams are a credit to the name and profession. Our requests , concerns, and fears were all addressed with sympathy, compassion, professionalism and patience . From the empathy of Danni in the funeral parlour - to the dignity and respect given by Neil to Mum on her final journey. I could not fault them, they are respected in Rayleigh and the surrounding areas for good reason. A family business throughout they have served our family for many many years, long may they continue. Michelle, Luke, Trevor and all the team gave us the best service and always with kindness and consideration. They took trouble over every detail to get the job right and to make sure we were comfortable. Through the most heartbreaking event in our lives, Scott, Mike and Donna have been an absolute credit to our last memories of my brother, Scott catered for our needs with compassion and Donna was always on hand. I used Adams for both my parents’ funerals. I instantly felt a bond with the staff and they made it quite clear to me that I could call them 24/7 and no problem was too small or too silly. If it was worrying me then they wanted to know straight away. I felt my parents were safe in their hands and both funerals were beautifully carried out. It is such a relief to be dealing with a company you can trust and that goes above and beyond what you imagine you will receive by way of service at such a difficult time.

My sweet mother passed away 4 years ago now and my grandmother before that. And Adams were more than caring, made me and my brother feel that we were the only family who lost loved ones. Donna, Luke and colleagues at Thorpe Bay were so kind, caring and thoughtful. They supported us with the funeral of my late mother. It was a tough time made bearable by their respectful and compassionate professionalism. Donna’s people skills were very impressive indeed and nothing was too difficult for her to arrange. Working from a smart phone only without a computer/printer wasn’t easy for me but she enabled us in our hour of need. Her recommendations for ancillary services were also spot on. Luke’s calm and respectful presence on the day was also much appreciated. It was the family approach with the personal touches that made me realise that I really must write a review for them, something I very rarely do. They may not be the cheapest in town but they are worth far beyond every extra penny, we realised that truth within the first few hours. We were truly grateful for their services - Maxine

It's been sometime since I used the services of Adams funeral directors. I've been meaning from day 1 to leave this review but better late then never. We opted for a direct cremation and could not have been treated any better than if we had gone for the most expensive option. From the start the staff were so very supportive, treating us and my late husband with enormous respect, dignity and kindness.
